Making scones for the farmers market this saturday had me analyze the beauty and simplicity of this art and delicate pastry. Few steps and a simple process but each one must be followed and carried through to achieve the flaky and buttery texture one desires in a classic scone. The richness of the butter and the sweet crunch of the sanding sugar on top, throughout the scone sweet blueberries or chocolate chips await. Now the aroma of basons fresh brewed coffee comes into play and at this moment I'm discovering happiness and the joy in appreciating the simple things in life. A great cup of coffee and a perfectly made scone, although this happiness can be duplicated through other gourmet preparations the scone is truly a timeless recipe and a Saturday morning treasure.
